Iowa State Capitol Romance
Shana and Tristan wanted a downtown vibe for their engagement shoot, I said, say less. They are from the Des Moines, Iowa area and had a couple iconic sites picked out to shoot at near the Capitol building so we started at those, then we decided going inside the Capitol building might be a better option given the heat and bugs.. it 100% paid off!
We ventured around the building for a few minutes, taking in the beauty and ornate details surrounding us. There are endless opportunities to take photos inside this 'castle'. To say I was excited, would be a massive understatement.
Shana and Tristan were up for literally anything during their session, we got all the classic shots, even recreated a 'Titanic' staircase scene, and a ton of creative shots to fill their memory bank for many many years to come. This building is such a unique venue to hold your engagement session in. You feel like you're almost sent back in time, taking in the massive floor to ceiling paintings, the gold details everywhere, and the history that has been created here.
There was still plenty of sunset left once we left the State Capitol building so we took advantage of our time and went to another historical site across the street and captured the sun setting over downtown Des Moines. There were a ton of laughs, inside jokes told and romantic snuggles stolen during Shana and Tristans engagement session. To be the one behind the camera seeing the way these two love birds interact with each other is truly a gift in itself. They are the sweetest, most positive and caring couple.
